Accomodation in Australia

Accomodation in Australia can sometimes be rather tricky. Once you've dug deep into your pockets and produced the airfair money to Australia, you might be completely unaware that something else could surprise you, at least thats what i was thinking. It just so happens that your fears, and mine, couldnt be further from the truth. Just because they're all english speaking, doesnt mean a surprise isnt in store when you finally arrive down under.

One of, if not the most popular forms of accomodation is staying at Australian hostels. Because so much of the land down there is untouched and still retains its ruggedness and Australian spirit, people are much more willing to travel around than Americans or those from Western Europe. As long as the rent is cheap and the surrounds are beautiful, Australians will stay there, and to hell with the spartan services with cheap nights. For my wife and I, we didnt much enjoy the idea of 20 people in one room with one toilet and drunken singers staying up till the cows come home, so we decided to reconsider our ways, and come up with an accomodation choice that more resembled OUR way of life.

The beautiful Australians resorts both picturesque and a pleasure to stay in were well beyond our means when we departed, as it was simply too expensive for any enjoyment to be had, so we came up with two options, plain old camping under the stars and staying at hotels. We were rather releived to indulge in several nights of hotel accomodation in australia, where our privacy was respected and we had a beautiful warm bed to slump into. After having regenerated, we ventured out into the wildnerness.

Outdoor accomodation in australia is quite easy to find, as Australians are so often on the move, and rarely settle down for too long. Both my wife and I already had backpacks, sleeping bags, as for the rest we found some very reasonable rates for the rest, which inluded a portable stove, a tent and several other cooking and lifestyle instruments. We even rented some things that we would rather not return to the US with, paying extra for the luggage.

Of all the places we visted on our trip around the red land, I would have to say the rugged outback housed the best accomodation in Australia. Nothing better in my mind than lying outside till the wee hours watching the sparkling stars as a sky for a blanket and the earth for a bed as they would say. If you go during the dry season, you probably wont even need the tent, as it was during the dry season. Stations were dotted around also, for refils and replenishments.
