If you've not yet used the Internet to procure travel reservations and services, you should strongly consider it.  I've found by using the Internet, I can save money on my basic travel needs, find the best deals, and conveniently make all of my arrangements for a trip from one or more web-sites – all from a convenient location such as my office or home.  I've even made on-the-fly arrangements for additional services (such as a hotel room for an unexpected overnight business stay) while on business travel.

As the World Wide Web (WWW) becomes more and more prevalent in our lives, many new online travel and accommodation service providers are setting shop up on the web.  Generally, using the web to purchase products and services is a safe and secure process because of web-based encryption technologies which keeps your personal and financial information secret from prying eyes.  Any fears you may have of sending your credit card data electronically to a web-based travel site are unfounded fears.  A reputable site, with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption, maintains a secure connection between your computer and their site.  There is no way for anyone else to intercept this data.

Online travel sites offer air travel, hotel, and automobile rental reservations.  You can use one simple site to easily make reservations for most if not all of your travel needs.  Many sites specialize in travel and vacation packages.  If you're interested in a good travel deal, you may want to consider booking a travel package through one of these sites to save money.

Online travel and reservation sites are generally uncomplicated.  You'll find navigating the site intuitive and be able to chose your airline, flight times, dates, and cities easily.  For an airline ticket, all you need to do is enter in your departure city and date.  Most sites will then provide you with a listing of airlines, time of departure, and price (you can sort these by the various categories).  If you need a round-trip ticket, then you can also select from a similar menu for the flight back.  You'll follow a similar process for hotel and rental car reservations.
